Residency salary
Residents are employees of Lonesome Pine Hospital and are provided with Ballad Health employee benefits in addition to these residency program benefits listed below.
Yearly base rate
Our program offers a competitive yearly base salary that increases with each year of training:
Educational stipend
In addition to the yearly salary, we provide our residents with an educational stipend to help cover the cost of educational materials and resources. This stipend increases as residents progress through their training:
Paid days off
We understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Our residents are granted twenty paid leave days per academic year. If employment contract is less than 12 months, salary and paid time off (PTO) are prorated for the length of the contract.
- Major medical leave – in accordance with policy.
- Family medicine residents are given time to participate in educational conferences in addition to vacation days.
- Additional medical, parental or caregiver leave to extent required pursuant to ACGME core requirements.

- Board Exam Fees are reimbursed – COMPLEX III or USMLE 3 must be taken while under current contract for reimbursement; paid once by the program
- Reimbursement for AOBFP/ABFM board certification fee – paid one time by program, must be registered for exam while still employed. Must be board that is approved by Program Director
- AAFP membership dues – paid by Program
