Vascular Care at Johnson City Medical Center
Expert vascular, peripheral artery and heart care services
The vascular system is the system of blood vessels that includes arteries, veins and lymph vessels. The arteries and veins carry blood from the heart to the tissues throughout your body, and back again.
Vascular disease involves:
- Occlusion – or narrowing of the arteries by plaques, which can cause reduced blood flow through vessels to the arms, leg, head and neck, as well as to the abdominal organs, such as the kidneys and bowel.
- Ballooning of the arteries – usually in the main artery of the body, the aorta, and can result in an aortic aneurysm.
Numerous problems can result from these diseases. These problems can range from leg pain during physical activity (claudication) to deterioration of skin leading to ulcers or gangrene.
Johnson City Medical Center’s multispeciality team can treat these types of conditions using the latest diagnoses and treatment techniques.
