We have prenatal and pregnancy classes throughout the Appalachian Highlands to help new parents navigate the life changes of pregnancy through the arrival of their newborn. These classes help reduce stress and make parents feel more confident, as well as provide a chance to meet other expecting parents and share experiences.

Our labor and delivery classes will equip you with tips for maintaining a healthy pregnancy, how to identify signs of potential risks and which pain management options for labor are available. Breastfeeding class

This Breastfeeding 101 class is designed to provide local breastfeeding support to help new moms understand how to begin breastfeeding, how breast milk is produced and more. Our experienced lactation class instructors guide you through the intricacies of breastfeeding by addressing common concerns and providing valuable tips, from proper latch-on methods to effective nursing positions.

Join us for great family bonding activities near you! These educational activities for families are designed to let you connect with other parents and families, hear from guest speakers, and engage in activities that you can also do at home. During each session, we will focus on creating a strong bond with your child by engaging in fun activities, asking open-ended questions and allowing your child to explore and play.

Car seat 101

Getting from place to place shouldn’t be any harder than it needs to be. This course will teach new parents how to safely transport their child by teaching car seat booster requirements, as well as providing car seat recommendations. We will cover car seat selection, safety, direction, location, installation and harnessing. This course is beneficial for both parents and guardians, in addition to any professional that works with education or families.

Classes for teenagers

Safe sitter

This class will prepare students in grades six through eight on how to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. Led by an instructor, this class is filled with games and role-playing exercises. They’ll even learn how to handle unsafe situations, like during power outages or extreme weather, as well as some basic first aid and rescue skills, like CPR. The class will also teach older children how to screen babysitting jobs, discuss fees with parents and help set them up for success with future employers. This class sometimes has a fee.
