Ballad Health Medical Associates opens new urgent care, sports medicine clinic in Johnson City to increase patient convenience, expand access
As it continues to expand access to healthcare, Ballad Health Medical Associates cut the ribbon on a new facility at 161 Heart Drive, Johnson City, that will house both an urgent care and sports medicine clinic.
The Ballad Health Medical Associates Sports Medicine clinic, located in Suite B, is now open, with an expanded footprint of sports medicine services within the region. The new clinic aims to support athletes and individuals of all ages in achieving their optimal physical well-being.
Simultaneously, the Ballad Health Medical Associates Urgent Care has relocated from its previous location on Marketplace Boulevard, next to Northern Tool and the county clerk’s office, to 161 Heart Drive, Suite A. This strategic move ensures accessibility and timely healthcare services for the community.
Investments in the new facility include:
- Quicker access to care: Having sports medicine and urgent care services located together means patients can experience faster access to the appropriate healthcare for their needs.
- Simplified process: Streamlined referrals aim to make it easier for patients to transition between care providers at urgent care and sports medicine without unnecessary delays or complications.
- Coordinated care: Sports medicine and urgent care will work together more seamlessly, leading to better-coordinated care and a more holistic approach to addressing patients' health needs.
As part of the clinic’s unveiling, Mark Patterson, MD, president of Ballad Health Medical Associates, expressed gratitude to local officials, community leaders and supporters who played vital roles in bringing this vision to life.
“This new facility represents a new chapter in Ballad Health Medical Associates’ journey towards enhancing healthcare accessibility and promoting wellness within the community,” Dr. Patterson said.
“These clinics symbolize our commitment to comprehensive care, spanning preventive measures to immediate interventions. As we cut the ribbon on this new facility today, we celebrate not just the physical structure, but the promise it holds for healthier, stronger community members.”
The Ballad Health Medical Associates Sports Medicine clinic offers a range of services, including fitness, strength and conditioning training, sport-specific training regimens, sports physicals and access to skilled orthopedic surgeons. “Here at Ballad Health Medical Associates Sports Medicine, we excel at creating personalized plans fit to meet the needs of any individual, whether its physical therapy, athletic training or an exercise regime,” said Todd Fowler, MD, sports medicine specialist for Ballad Health Medical Associates.
“But in addition to serving individual patients, our commitment in sports medicine extends to partnerships with local high schools, colleges and universities. Athletic trainers collaborate with educational institutions to develop pre-season conditioning programs, assist in sports injury rehabilitation and provide onsite care during competitions and practice. We offer an extensive set of services fit for many organizational and individual needs.”
