Bristol Regional Medical Center holds Holiday Bazaar to benefit cancer fund
With the season of giving quickly approaching, Ballad Health’s Bristol Regional Medical Center will host its annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday, Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
The Holiday Bazaar offers Bristol Regional’s team members and the community an opportunity to shop for unique and handmade items for all ages. More than 35 vendors from throughout the region will sell items such as jewelry, clothing, décor and craft items, home goods, holiday decorations, books and much more.
“Many people use this event as an early start to their holiday shopping and love seeing gifts you can’t always find on store shelves,” said Laura Shortridge, oncology nurse navigator. “Not only will buyers have a large selection of merchandise to choose from, they’ll be supporting a really worthwhile cause.”
Each year, vendors donate a portion of their sales to Ballad Health’s Cancer Patient Assistance Fund. The Fund provides financial support to patients and their families for cancer-associated expenses not covered by insurance. Expenses include medications, groceries, personal care items, gas, housing and utilities.
“Each year, Ballad Health’s Cancer Patient Assistance Fund helps approximately 550 patients throughout Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee who are fighting all types of cancer,” said Shortridge. “Dealing with the various stages of cancer and cancer treatment is stressful for patients and their families. This is another way for us to lend support beyond medical treatments and procedures.”
Admission is free to the public. Vendor booths will be located on Bristol Regional’s ground floor in the Conference Center hallway next to the cafeteria. Most vendors will be cash only.
