Hip Replacement at Johnson City Medical Center
Every year, more than 400,000 people undergo total joint replacement surgery.
The Joint Replacement Center has developed a comprehensive, planned course of treatment. And we believe you play a key role in ensuring your successful recovery.
We use the latest technology and advanced techniques to offer minimally invasive surgical options. This means less pain for you and shorter recovery times.
Who is the surgery for?
Primary candidates are individuals with chronic joint pain from arthritis that interferes with daily activities, walking, exercise, leisure, recreation and work.
What to expect
The surgery aims to relieve pain, restore your independence, and return you to work and other daily activities.
Total hip replacement patients recover quickly. Patients will be able to walk the day of the surgery.
Generally, patients are able to return to driving in two to four weeks, dance in four to six weeks and golf in six to 12 weeks.
What do our hip replacement patients say?
“If I had not had hip replacement surgery, I wouldn’t be able to walk. Now, a year later, I’m able to play tennis again, go swimming, walk on the beach, play in the floor with my granddaughter.” – Becky Jones
“It was a life-changing, life-saving event. My advice to anybody’s that’s having the kind of pain that’s restricting what you love to do … is to go to the doctor.” – Bill Chase
