Hurricane Helene Disaster Relief

In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation, Ballad Health is focused on relief efforts throughout the Appalachian Highlands.

Donations for disaster relief

Looking for ways to assist people in our community affected by Hurricane Helene? Any donations, whether through actions, resources or monetary contributions, are a great way to get involved.

Barrels will be placed in the lobbies of all operational Ballad Health hospitals near each gift shop to collect donated goods. Donated items being accepted include:

  • Adult diapers and pads
  • Baby formula, diapers and wipes
  • Bottled water
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Personal hygiene products (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.)
  • New bedding, clothing, socks and shoes
  • Nonperishable food
  • Manual can openers

Donations will support STRONG families, home health and hospice patients, and Ballad Health team members. This list will be updated as new needs arise. Find a Ballad Health hospital near you so you can make a donation.

In the aftermath of a disaster, the need for blood donations becomes even more critical. Natural disasters often lead to canceled blood drives, leaving local hospitals and medical facilities with a shortage of life-saving blood supplies.

We are deeply honored to utilize your generous blood donations to support 23 local medical facilities, all regional cancer centers and local rescue aircraft in the ongoing hurricane recovery efforts. As the provider of blood for all 20 Ballad Health hospitals, Marsh Regional Blood Center plays a vital role in ensuring life-saving resources reach those in urgent need. Your contributions have a direct impact on the health and recovery of our community.

Marsh Regional Blood Center has three donation centers located in Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport. Walk-ins are welcome.

Ballad Health Foundation, the charitable arm of Ballad Health, is collecting disaster relief donations to support people in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia impacted by Hurricane Helene. All financial donations will stay local, and 100% of funds raised will be used to support people in our community, Ballad Health patients and team members.

  • Disaster Relief Fund – Helps allocate resources for the community’s greatest needs among our patients, team members or our communities. 
  • Ballad Health Patient Assistance Funds – Support patients in need through navigators and resource specialists.
  • Ballad Health Team Member Emergency Fund – Assists our team members with food, housing and transportation needs, administered through local HR offices.

If you are a Ballad Health Team Member and need assistance, reach out to human resources (HR). HR is prepared to coordinate financial needs, childcare needs, community needs assistance or referrals to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
